Erectile dysfunction (ED), or also known as male impotence, is a sexual illness characterized by the inability of a man to develop and sustain an erection, the enlarged and firm state, of his genitalia. Physiological variables can be attributed to ED such as aging and different biological disorders like hormonal and neurogenic disorders. Male impotence can also be caused by different psychological imbalances such as clinical depression, schizophrenia, anxiety and trait disorders. Poor lifestyle including excessive smoking and alcohol-intake can also bring about ED. But no matter what causes the problem, it is sure that the patient’s life will be drastically altered.
Dietary supplements, or food supplements, are preparations intended to supply nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and amino acids to the body which it uses for many different biological functions. These nutrients are those that are usually missing or inadequate from one’s dietary allowance. Most dietary supplements, unlike drugs which are often processed with chemicals and synthetic materials, are natural and are made up of herbs and hormones that are not dangerous to the body. And also, dietary supplements only add nutrients to the body that it needs when absorbed by the system, instead of altering bodily functions like what drugs do. This makes dietary supplements safer than drugs because there are no negative side effects that can, in the long run, become an even bigger problem on one’s health and well-being.
